Inside the Packet – The best party in town… but the front door was really hard to find

Why social media followers don't always become clients, and what to do about it

Some of our favourite client stories aren’t about fixing something that’s broken. They’re about unlocking something that was already there.

This one is a good example.

The Situation

Our client is a business coach with a serious profile.

Press features, podcast appearances, speaking on stages all around Australia, and a social media following that most people in her industry would happily trade a kidney for.

She was showing up everywhere. Her audience knew her, trusted her and followed her closely. But there was a gap.

She previously had an email newsletter, but somewhere along the way she got too busy and it had been shelved. Twelve months passed and the list sat there, untouched.

She also had no website to speak of.

So while everyone knew the party was happening, getting in the door required more effort than most people were willing to make. Things were building nicely organically, but we had a feeling that she was still leaving opportunities on the table.

The Strategy

We did two things.

First, we built her a website that reflected the great work she was doing. Clear on who she helps, clear on what she does, with a pathway for the right person to take the next step.

Second, we helped her get back into the swing of sending newsletters. A genuine, well-written email to a list that had been waiting patiently, with a clear invitation at the bottom for anyone who was ready to take the next step and work with her.

The Result

We helped her send her first newsletter in over 12 months… and she instantly got a new client.

The Lesson

Social media is brilliant for building a profile and staying front of mind. But the people scrolling your feed are in consumption mode

They’re watching, absorbing, saving your post for later… but they’re not always sitting there ready to act.

Email is different. Someone who opens your newsletter has given you their inbox, and that’s a different kind of attention – more considered, and more likely to lead somewhere

Despite how frustrated people get with the volume of emails in their life, we can assure you that it is still very much alive… and if you want your business to grow, it’s a must-use tool.

The ‘Call to Action’ in your emails matter too. If you skip this important step, it’s like not sending invites out to your next birthday bash and wondering why no one is showing up.

If the only way someone can work with you is to hunt down your email address or slide into your DMs, a lot of people simply won’t bother.

Not because they don’t want to, but because friction kills follow-through. A button or link that says “Book a call” moves the front door to somewhere people can actually find it.

Our client already had the party going. She just needed to make it easier to walk in.

And to prove to you that we practice what we preach, this is our Call to Action: Book a free low-pressure, high-value Marketing Kickstarter call and let’s open the front door to your business too. ✌️
