Let’s talk about email newsletters. You know, the simple marketing tool you keep meaning to start but never quite get around to because you’re stuck on what to put in them.
The truth is, you don’t need a crystal-clear vision to get started. You just need to start.
So, to get the ball rolling, I set myself a challenge to brainstorm as many ideas for your email marketing newsletter as I could in 60 seconds!
Simple and effective email marketing
In the video above, I gave myself just 60 seconds to brainstorm ideas for your next newsletter. Here are those ideas with a little explanation, ready for you to use:
- 📰 News and updates from the team – Did someone get promoted? Are you all running a marathon for charity? Share it!
- 👥 Team bios – Introduce the faces behind the business. People love knowing who they’re working with.
- 🏛️ Industry or legislation updates – Keep your audience informed about any relevant updates. Doing so also helps position yourself as an expert and build trust.
- ✍️ Articles you’ve written – Share your thoughts and help your audience with insights they can’t resist.
- 🖊️ Articles someone else has written – Found something amazing? Share it, but add your own commentary for extra value.
- 📹 A video from you – Because nothing says “I’m relatable” like a smiling face and a helpful tip.
- 💡 A new product or service – Got something new that your business is offering? Share it! Your newsletter is prime real estate for announcements.
- 💼 Office updates – Closing early for a public holiday? Changing your opening hours? Make sure you keep your customers in the loop.
- 💬 An interesting quote – Pick one that means something to you and your business. Bonus points if it showcases your values and inspires your audience.
- 😂 Something funny – A little humour goes a long way. Don’t be afraid to show off your personality!
- ☀️ Something seasonal – Send a message that ties in with the holidays, back-to-school season, or even World Dachshund Day (Celebrated on 22 June btw!)
Make your newsletter your own
Remember, this list is just the start. There are so many more ideas that have come to mind since then (did someone say Case Studies?).
As you do more of your newsletters, these ideas will come to you more easily and naturally. And just like lots of things in life, it’s all about testing and measuring. It doesn’t need to be perfect from the get go. In fact, perfect is overrated. Try different content ideas, see what resonates, and don’t be afraid to mix it up.
Have you got ideas you’d like to add to the list? Or maybe you’re still stuck? Either way, we’re here to help you turn your email marketing from meh to marvellous. Let’s make it happen!
