Which social platforms should you actually be on?

Why “Does anyone still use Facebook?” is the wrong question

One of the questions I hear the most is: “Does anyone even use Facebook anymore?”

Rumours of Facebook’s demise are over exaggerated in my opinion.

But the real question is not about Facebook. It is about where you should be putting your energy. And the answer is that it depends… because the answer isn’t generic. There isn’t any “one-size-fits-all” approach that works.

The answer depends on your business.

So, when deciding where efforts should be concentrated on socials, here is how we approach it:

1. Test and measure

You do not know until you try.

Test a platform, measure the results, and then decide if it deserves a place in your strategy.

2. Look beyond your direct clients

Even if your ideal clients are not on Instagram, the people they trust might be.

When someone asks for advice, you want to be the person they have seen and heard about online.

3. Repurpose to keep it simple

Managing multiple platforms is easier when you repurpose content or use scheduling tools.

Being present in more places also increases your chances of showing up in search results.

4. Let the data guide you

Eventually you will need to choose where to focus. Analytics will tell you. If one platform is sending steady traffic, keep it. If it is a ghost town, step away.

So, does anyone still use Facebook? Yes. But that is not the point. The point is to show up where it matters and let the numbers decide where that is.
