Is your website working for you, or is it just… there?
For many professional services and financial services businesses, the website ends up as a static brochure. It looks fine, but it’s not actively helping the business grow.
A great website should be a business development tool – consistently generating high-quality leads.
Here are three ways to make that shift:
1. Simplify your language
The average person reads at about a Grade 6 level (around age 12). If your website sounds like it was written for the boardroom, it’s probably too technical. Jargon-heavy copy makes people switch off. Write simply, directly, and in a way your audience can grasp quickly.
2. Think beyond the newsletter
Newsletters are valuable, but if you want to really stand out, consider a lead magnet – something practical and immediately useful. The best ones solve a real problem, such as:
- A quiz that rates your financial health
- A calculator to test future readiness
- A checklist tailored to life or business stages
When people find your free resources valuable, they’ll imagine how much more they’d gain as a paying client.
3. Make it easy to reach you
If it takes more than 20 seconds to get in touch, you’ll lose potential leads. Instead of long forms or complicated steps, add a clear Book a Call button that links directly to your calendar (using tools like Calendly, TidyCal, or Microsoft Bookings). You control your availability, but clients can connect without friction.
Your business works hard. Your website should too. With clear language, practical resources, and frictionless contact points, your site can move from passive brochure to active growth engine.
