Fixes to Common Website Issues

With all technology, sometimes things just go a little whacko.

But the good news is, sometimes it is a quick and easy fix to get your website running smoothly again.

Here are some of fixes to some of the most common problems we see on websites:

WordPress

My styling has disappeared and my logo is HUGE

This is likely caused by an error with a plugin or incompatible WordPress version.

  1. Take a backup of your site.
  2. Go to Elementor > Tools > General > Elementor Cache and click Clear Files & Data.
  3. Click Save Changes.
  4. Check that your site has returned to normal.

If it hasn’t, contact us to help fix it – this is included in all Crisp Protect packages and retainers, otherwise we will quote you on our services.

I am not receiving email notifications from my form

This could be a form setup issue or an email authentication issue.

  1. Go to the page with the form.
  2. Click into the Elementor Form.
  3. In the left-hand menu, check that you have Email set up.
  4. Then, check that the email is correct.

If that all looks OK – you will need to check with your IT technician that you have authenticated your email.

Alternatively, contact Crisp if you have a Crisp Protect package and retainer, otherwise we will quote you on our services.

The Elements Differ Between Desktop and Mobile View

This could be due to differences in screen size on the devices – desktop screens are much larger than mobile screens, so layouts need to change for readability and usability. If we set up your website or content, the mobile responsive view will be set up for you. If you add your own content, then you will need to edit the responsive content using the steps below:

  1. Duplicate the elements that are distorted on mobile view (could be text, images, buttons, columns, and other visual or interactive parts).
  2. Go to Advanced > Responsive > hide the elements to desktop and tablet.

       3. Adjust as necessary to look good on mobile.

If you are uncomfortable with making these changes – contact us.

Buttons or images have broken links

This is likely caused by linking an incorrect URL, resources being deleted or moved, or expired links. To resolve these issues, you’ll need to:

  1. Check each link.
  2. Ensure the destination is correct and available.
  3. Update the button/image with the correct URL.

Sometimes these updates may take a while to reflect on the live page. Try deleting your cookies and checking again.

My "Load More" button duplicates first page of results instead of displaying additional posts

The reason might be the pagination settings not incrementing properly, causing the “Load More” button to reload the first set of events.

To solve this, check the pagination settings of the post widget. When editing the widget, ensure that the pagination logic correctly tracks the page number and fetches the next set of data instead of reloading the same data.

Wix

My pages are directing to broken pages / missing pages

Firstly, check that the button / link is correct.

If that doesn’t resolve the issue, check that no 301 Redirects have been automatically set up (sometime Wix does this).

  1. Go to your SEO Dashboard.
  2. Select Go to URL Redirect Manager under Tools and settings.
  3. Review the redirects.

If this does not fix it, contact Crisp if you have a Crisp Protect package and retainer and we can fix it for you, otherwise we will quote you on our services.

My website looks crazy on mobile

Sometimes content changes or edits can affect the mobile experience, so to fix this one you will need to check that your website has been optimised for mobile.

  1. Login to your Wix site.
  2. Go to Edit site.
  3. On the page that you want to check, click the little mobile icon in the top left-hand corner of the menu bar.

     4. Adjust the view as necessary.
